Eleanor + Hone have the kind of story that makes you smile. They first connected on Bumble (Eleanor made the first move!), and their first date involved quite the effort. Hone drove a total of five hours just to share takeaway from the Tolga Pub with Eleanor. They ate at her dining table in Atherton, just the two of them.
Fast forward to the proposal – and it’s the kind of sweet, slightly chaotic moment that’s just so perfect. Eleanor had just gotten home with the groceries when Hone came outside, dropped to one knee in the driveway, and popped the question while she was still holding the bags. He wanted to make sure she had time to get dressed up for their fancy dinner later that night and knew she’d want a photo or two, but also couldn’t bear the idea of proposing in public.
Their wedding felt like an extension of all those little things they love most: quiet weekends together, pub takeaways, and meaningful moments shared without too much fuss. It was intimate, relaxed, and deeply personal, just like their favourite date nights around a fire pit in Atherton or brunches together when Hone’s not working in Cairns.
Celebrating at The Refinery was the perfect choice. it felt modern and refined but still warm and inviting. The courtyard gave their guests room to mingle and soak up the sunshine, and inside, the clean aesthetic made the space feel timeless.
It was all about connection.
Family. Friends. And a love story that began with a bold message and a very long drive.
