If you've been following along with our work, you'll already know Walkabout Creek is one of our absolute favourite places to shoot a wedding.
Tucked beside the tranquil waters of the Enoggera Reservoir and less than 25 minutes from the Brisbane CBD, this rainforest venue has that rare quality of feeling like a total escape while still being an easy drive for you and your guests. We're proud to be a preferred vendor there, and after years of capturing weddings on-site, we still get excited every time we pull up the driveway.
Whether you're just starting your venue search or you've already got Walkabout Creek on your shortlist, here's everything you need to know about ceremony spaces, reception options, and why we rate the team behind it so highly.
Where Is Walkabout Creek?
Walkabout Creek is located at 60 Mount Nebo Road, Enoggera Reservoir, in The Gap — about 25 minutes north-west of the Brisbane CBD. You'll drive through quiet suburban streets before the bush takes over completely, and suddenly you're surrounded by water, wildlife, and the D'Aguilar National Park. It genuinely feels like Brisbane's best-kept secret.
Ceremony Options: Outdoor and Undercover, Something for Every Couple
One of the things couples love most about Walkabout Creek is the choice of ceremony settings. Whether you're dreaming of an open-air lawn ceremony or want the peace of mind that comes with an undercover space, there's an option to suit.
Lakeview Stage — An outdoor stage nestled among the trees with sweeping views over the water below. It seats 70, with room for an additional 50 guests standing, and it's wheelchair accessible via a short 200m walk from the drop-off point. The afternoon light here is stunning for photos, with the lake catching the sun as it sets.
The Lawn — The largest ceremony space at Walkabout Creek, seating up to 200 guests. This open, tree-lined field sits in full shade by the afternoon and has its own driveway, making it easy to access for guests with mobility needs.
The Deck — A natural, undercover ceremony venue seating 100 (with standing room for 50 more). It's the closest space to the drop-off point, so it's a great choice if you've got guests who need easy access, or if you'd simply rather not gamble on the weather.
Outdoor or undercover, rain or shine, there's a ceremony space at Walkabout Creek that will suit your vision — and the surrounding bushland means every one of them makes for genuinely beautiful photos.
Reception Venues: Indoor and Outdoor Spaces for Every Style
Walkabout Creek also offers a range of reception spaces, from grand indoor rooms to open-air decks, so your ceremony and reception can both happen without anyone having to travel between locations.
Banksia Room — The venue's largest indoor reception space, seating 124 (200 standing), with sweeping views of the Enoggera Reservoir. Think grand piano, a timber dance floor, and internal bathrooms — timeless and elegant.
The Deck — An expansive, covered outdoor reception space that seats 204 (300 standing). Styled with white and timber furnishings and native plants, it's not unusual to spot wombats, emus or wallabies wandering below while you celebrate.
Ferntree Room — A more intimate reception setting for 56 seated (80 standing), with floor-to-ceiling glass doors looking out over the treetops and the tree kangaroo enclosure. It also has a working fireplace, a wraparound deck, and its own outdoor dance floor — perfect for smaller weddings or cocktail-style celebrations.
Because Walkabout Creek has two self-contained reception rooms (each with its own kitchen, bar, staff, and bathrooms), it's even possible for the venue to host two functions on the same evening, though only one ceremony runs per afternoon so your walk down the aisle is never shared.
Why We Keep Coming Back
We've been fortunate enough to photograph weddings at Walkabout Creek for several years now, and a big part of that comes down to the team behind the scenes. We've worked closely with Eloise and Jaya time and time again, and we can honestly say their professionalism, organisation, and care for every couple is second to none. From coordinating vendors to making sure the day runs smoothly rain or shine, they take the pressure off so couples (and their photographers!) can just enjoy the day.
Join Us at the Wedding Open Afternoon!
If you're considering Walkabout Creek for your own wedding, there's no better way to get a feel for the venue than seeing it in person. Walkabout Creek is hosting a Wedding Open Afternoon on Sunday, 23 August 2026, giving couples the chance to walk through the styled ceremony and reception spaces, meet the team, and connect with recommended suppliers (including us!).
It's a relaxed, no-pressure way to picture your own day at the venue, and we'd love to see you there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Walkabout Creek suitable for both outdoor and indoor ceremonies? Yes. Couples can choose between fully outdoor spaces like The Lawn and Lakeview Stage, or the undercover Deck, which protects against rain and heat while still feeling open-air.
Can Walkabout Creek host both the ceremony and reception on the same day? Yes. Walkabout Creek offers dedicated ceremony locations (Lakeview Stage, The Lawn, The Deck) as well as separate reception spaces (Banksia Room, The Deck, Ferntree Room), so couples can host their entire wedding day on the one property.
How far is Walkabout Creek from Brisbane? Walkabout Creek is located in The Gap, roughly 25 minutes north-west of the Brisbane CBD.
Is there parking and public transport access? Yes, complimentary parking is available on-site, and Brisbane City Council buses run to a park 'n' ride stop a five-minute walk away. Ubers and taxis also service the venue.
What happens if it rains on the wedding day? No need to stress. Walkabout Creek has multiple covered areas, including The Deck for ceremonies and The Deck and Ferntree Room for receptions, all of which are just as beautiful as the open-air spaces. So even if the weather doesn't cooperate, you've got a stunning backup built right into the venue.
